Starting in art school I periodically assigned myself to paint illustrations for fictitious articles. Women in the Military was for Psychology Today. Taking a Bath was for a non-existent article on selling stocks at a loss for a financial magazine. Untitled was for an article on getting a good night's sleep.
While I was in art school I won a bronze award from the Kansas City Art Directors' Society with an illustration of Malibu Pier at night with a red sky, a partner to the daylight version in Air. The painting disappeared before I got it photographed.
